FAQ

What is Kotoba Boost - Japanese Vocabulary?

Kotoba Boost - Japanese Vocabulary is the result of years of learning Japanese and developing Android applications. The members of Lusil are always trying to think of methods and tools to make language learning fun and build our japanese skills.

The idea of this tool is to take the most common words of the subject and help you learn in a quiz type format. Subject will generally be topics that interest you so knowledge can be immediately applied. Topics will be things like Manga, Anime, Songs, Geography, Educational Material and basically anything we might come across.

How much does it cost?

Kotoba Boost is a free application that contains some FREE decks. There is a shop that uses a credit based system and you will find decks and unlocks ranging from FREE to 100 credits. Essentially, 100 credits is equivalent to 1 USD. Advertisements are used for free users and will be removed after the purchase of any credits.

How does this level and unlock system work?

When you add a deck you start off as 'Unranked' and your 'Hiragana Only' and 'Kanji Only' options disabled. Kotoba's goal is to try and break any muscle memory you might have to use combinations of Hiragana & Kanji to identify the proper answer.

Therefore, 'Hiragana Only' and 'Kanji Only' options are seen as more difficult than identifying them both together as you would see if you were reading furigana text. Answer options will be similar to what you may have seen on a JLPT test.

Read the following to understand the progresion you should take. Once you have unlocked an option it will always be available to you no matter what happens to your deck level after that.

BRONZE
Achieve bronze by maintaining a good accuracy for all the words of your deck. If you achieve bronze it will unlock the 'Hiragana Only' option in your deck settings. You will need this to reach silver status.
SILVER
Achieve silver by maintaining a good accuracy for all the words of your deck in 'Hiragana Only' mode in your deck settings. When you achieve silver, it will unlock the 'Kanji Only' option in your deck settings. You will need this to reach gold status.
GOLD
Achieve gold by maintaining a good accuracy for all the words of your deck in 'Kanji Only' mode in your deck settings. This is the highest status achievement.

At any point if you want to skip the leveling progression you can pay credits to unlock 'Hiragana Only' and 'Kanji Only' modes.
